Path 1 · Medicare Supplement comes first
Your Supplement renews. Your drug plan deserves a fresh look.
Your Medicare Supplement generally renews automatically into 2027 as long as premiums are paid. You do not re-enroll during AEP, but premiums can change.
Modern Medigap does not include prescription coverage. A separate Part D plan should be reviewed each year because formularies, pharmacies, and costs can change.
AEP does not guarantee the ability to switch Medigap without health questions. Underwriting and guaranteed issue rights depend on your situation and state. Never cancel existing coverage before replacement approval and its effective date are confirmed.

Step 1 of 7
Open Medicare Plan Finder
Go to Medicare.gov Plan Finder, enter your ZIP and county if asked, select 2027, then choose Drug plan (Part D) for Original Medicare plus a Supplement.

Open Medicare Plan Finder
Go to Medicare.gov Plan Finder, enter your ZIP and county if asked, select 2027, then choose Drug plan (Part D) for Original Medicare plus a Supplement.
- 2
Choose how to continue
Sign in to save your medicine list and results, or continue without logging in if that option is offered.
- 3
Enter every medication exactly
Add each medication's exact name, strength, dosage or form, quantity, and refill frequency. Small differences can change the estimate.
- 4
Add your actual pharmacies
Choose pharmacies you would really use. Compare preferred-network locations and mail-order when available.
- 5
Compare the total yearly estimate
Look at estimated yearly premium plus drug costs—not monthly premium alone. Actual costs vary with use.
- 6
Open the plan details
Check the formulary, prior authorization, step therapy, quantity limits, and pharmacy-specific costs.
- 7
Save and review before enrolling
Save or print results and review them before enrolling during an applicable period. Plan Finder wording can change.
Path 2 · Medicare Advantage
Verify the exact plan, location, providers, and medicines.
- Read the ANOC and official renewal or nonrenewal letter.
- Confirm the specific plan ID and your ZIP and county.
- Verify doctors and hospitals with both the carrier and provider.
- Check every medication, pharmacy, and applicable drug rule.
- Compare premiums, copays, deductible, and medical maximum out of pocket.
- Review referrals, prior authorization, and eligibility for extra benefits.
Benefit cards and food allowances are not universal and may require eligibility verification. Plans differ by county and state, including within Georgia.

I got a letter that my plan is ending. What do I do now?
Save the letter, identify the plan name, plan ID, and ending date, and schedule promptly. Review options before December 7 for January 1 coverage.
A true Medicare Advantage nonrenewal without a replacement may return you to Original Medicare without automatically adding standalone Part D. An approved migration may enroll you into another plan automatically. Read the letter carefully.
A qualifying nonrenewal may provide a Special Enrollment Period from December 8 through the last day of February. Deadlines and effective dates vary by event—confirm the letter with Medicare or Logan rather than risking a drug-coverage gap. A qualifying end of Medicare Advantage coverage may also create time-limited Medigap guaranteed issue rights, depending on state and situation; there is no blanket guarantee.

Two different ways to build coverage
| Question | Medigap path | Advantage path |
|---|---|---|
| How A & B arrive | Original Medicare | Private Part C plan |
| Drug coverage | Usually separate Part D | Usually included |
| Provider access | Any provider accepting Medicare | Plan network and rules |
| Yearly review | Part D and Supplement rate | Whole plan |
Medigap and Medicare Advantage are alternatives—not layers to hold together.
